Queen Sugar Set To Participate in Vulture Festival

On the brink of its third season, Queen Sugar has been announced as a participant in the Vulture Festival. If you’re in the New York area this weekend, you might want to stop by and check out the festivities. It’s a weekend of high-profile events bringing the entertainment site to life, celebrating the best of today's television, comedy, film, podcasts, and more. The pop-culture extravaganza includes panels, screenings, performances, and live podcast recordings. The Queen Sugar conversation will take place Sunday, May 20 at 6:45 p.m.

Creator and Executive Producer, Ava DuVernay will join cast members Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner and Kofi Siriboe for a moderated conversation sharing what to expect during the upcoming season of Queen Sugar.

The contemporary drama returns as the Bordelon siblings struggle to move forward with their lives as they strive to honor the legacy of their father following his unexpected passing. Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) relocates to Saint Josephine, Louisiana to help run the family business. As the only black female sugarcane mill owner, she must fight to regain her independence while rebuilding her relationships with her estranged siblings. Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) struggles to transform from a formerly incarcerated single father to a landowner, as he works to restore his relationship with his son's mother. Nova (Rutina Wesley) finds herself torn between her activism and her desire to be loved. Together, they must learn to rely on one another as they navigate through their tenuous bonds as a family.

Queen Sugar returns with a two-night season premiere event on OWN starting Tuesday, May 29th, and continuing on Wednesday, May 30th (10 p.m. ET/PT each night). The series will regularly air Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
