With Mental Health in the Spotlight, Psychiatrist Behind Award-winning Documentary Talks with WWJ

There has been increased attention again on mental health -- after the recent shooting of a man by Detroit Police, whose family members say was dealing with schizophrenia. That, on top of numerous mental health discussions involving kids and school.

The feature-length documentary Mentality, produced by psychiatrist Mukesh Lathia, tracks the evolution of mental health treatment through the stories of patients and professionals. Lathia joined WWJ's Brooke Allen during the Midday show to discuss the film and also provide expert insight on the current state of mental health treatment.

Mentality won a Best Documentary award at the 6th Annual I See You Awards® held on August 21, 2022.
