Love Wins

Executive Producer of “Not Throwing in the Towel,” Johanna Rhodes, had the idea to film two of her friends, Ginny and Debbie, because she saw a story that needed to be told. For this piece, Rhodes called on the talents of award-winning Director/Filmmaker, Sandra Pfeifer. “Not Throwing in the Towel” is a documentary that took 15 months to create, but a lifetime to live.

Sandra Pfeifer focuses the camera on the couple that lives in western Kentucky. Debbie and Ginny, a Michigan native, have been partners for nearly 20 years. They have faced tough times, family rejection, and public harassment. This documentary is more than just one story about one gay couple in America. It is a story about eliminating the “us” vs. “them” mentality. It’s a story about love, commitment, and healing. Pfeifer says she strives to answer the calling of the film. She is very proud of the result and believes this story has an important place in the documentary world.

“Not Throwing in the Towel” is one of the entrants in the 2nd Annual I See You Awards®.
